May BellaBox

Hello beautiful people!

Earth to Lucy?, as in, where have I been?

I've had my mid-year exams popping up over the past month or so, meaning I've been a very busy bee when it came to studying, at to be honest, it's definitely proved worth it because I've got most of my results back and I've done very well so snaps for studying!!

On another note, I've also been busy writing and recording a new demo tape which is very exciting indeed, and I've got my own little gig happening towards the end of June and I dont know what I'm going to do at all and ahuhahadufhgrwiyfgdchxjkzl

Anyway, I've been searching for a subscription beauty box that ships to Australia because I know you have Glossy Box and Ipsy Glam around the globe, yet I couldn't find one for Australia. I did my research and came across a little (big) box called Bella Box, which I was oblivious to that my cousin orders this too and I could have just asked, but no, I did the research ahah!

Basically, you pay for a certain period of time (I chose 12 months), and thus, every month, I now receive a little box with small product samples of which I try and post on them, so from now till next June (when my sub runs out), I've got some sample posts for you all!

Unless you live under a rock, you'll know that BB creams are all the rage right now. Everybody is using them and recommending them so, as you can imagine, when this little baby popped up in my Bella Box, I was pumped to give it a go, though soooo unfortunately, it's for medium to dark skin, and whilst I do live on the East Coast where we typically "wear thongs (TRANSLATE: flipflops) and have steak and go to the beach and go tanning every other day" (I don't do any of that stuff lol), I am quite the pale child, especially now since we're coming into winter (OFFICIALLY WINTER TODAY!!)

I was so sad about the fact that when I put it on, I looked really terrible. Maybe next time, though, from what I'd gathered, it was extremely pigmented (haha) and it had a smooth consistency which is always a plus.

I've never actually come across these before in my life - like, I'd never known that disposable mascara wands existed but they do! What got me on this was that there were two types of the wand, the blue, targeting length and volume, whilst the red one targeted curling which is so useful!
I'm not overly sure how to use them though so I'll be experimenting a bit over the next few weeks with what to do with them.

The next little piece that caught my eye was a lip stain from Bloom, and to be perfectly honest, I was a bit thick headed at the time, pulled it out and applied it, only to find it was a texta and not the pencil I'd expected it to be hahaha, a bit of a shock to me. Stupid little ol' me.

What I love about this is the durability of the marker to my lips. I layered this over with a coat of lip gloss from Victoria's Secret and was surprised about the long-wear and strength of it. It's not like other ones where you take a sip of water or apply some gloss over the top and it slides off completely and turns the white applicator head from the gloss tube bright red.

What I didn't like was the colour. Because I'm still a youngen, I find wearing dark reds and purples too grown up for me. If I were to do a bold lip, I'd go for a red rather than a deeper colour. While I think it would look devine on older women, it's not for me, and while I was putting it on, my mum was watching and throughout the course of the day, she's hinted towards how much she likes it, so I think she's taken a bit of a fancy to it. I'll probably give it to her so it's not too much of a waste.

I tried out this duo last night before I went to bed, and then tried it out again this morning before I went for a run and I have to admit, it's probably one of my favourites that came out of the box. It's a gentle foaming cleanser. I found that unlike my Natio one, it left my skin really soft and you know that clean feeling you get after you wash your face, yeah, that happened.

It also states that it's soap-free and has an almost neutral pH so that means that I won't be putting anything too dangerous onto my face. I love soap-free products. I've been using QV recently as they have a cheap yet really fantastic face wash, soap-free, so when i found this out, I was overjoyed!

I'd definitely recommend this for oily skin as it gets rid of impurities and sebum but unlike others, it does not strip your skin completely of all the oils that you want to still have. It didn't irritate my skin at all either.

I was interested to have a look at these little eye make-up remover pads, having been a fan of wipes for a while and giving me foundations for comparison.

What I absolutely loved about these were the no-fuss make-up removing. I know with some towellettes or whatever you use, you literally have to scrub at your face until its red to get rid of make-up, but with this - one wipe and its gone - no red marks, no irritated skin! So handy and efficient, I'll definitely be using these!

While it was good in the taking off of the make-up, I didn't like how oily the pads were, I felt a bit like I was smearing oil onto my face rather than getting the make-up off, however, it did the job, though leaving my skin slightly oily - though, while using this in hand with the La Roche-Posay face wash above, the combination of a gentle eye make-up remover and a face wash worked very well.

I was really curious about this next product, as like the face wash two above from La Roche-Posay, this was a similar product, though with an acne treatment. Being honest once more I *touchwood* am fairly okay when it comes to breakouts as I have normal skin so I don't particularly know what to do with this, though I think I'm still going to try and use this and see if it prevents them as well as demolishes them.

Oh my gosh, if I don't love the La Roche-Posay cleanser a few above, then I definitely love this. It's natural, as seen on the packet with stem cells, green tea and lotus flower, which I'd definitely prefer over something filled with long sciencey named chemicals.

After putting it on morning and night, I have to say I love it. As you probably know, (if you read my boring and long intro), I've been so busy and have succumbed to the dreaded black circles and puffiness of eyes. I popped this on, left it over night, and woke up to find that it seriously reduces any signs that I may be sleep deprived! Even without a basic concealer or whatever, it makes me look 100% awake instead of the usual 0.2% that I aim for.

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who leads a busy lifestyle and is susceptible to dark and puffiness.

Sorry for the wait!
Hopefully, i can post again soon!

Xx

  1. I recently tried the Palmer's BB cream too and sadly it didn't really work for me either. I found it too runny and did nothing to even out my skin tone. Bummer.
